Soils Limited was commissioned by Interserve Construction Limited to undertake a ground investigation and to provide information for new reception and primary school buildings. The development comprised a two-storey timber constructed, flat roofed school building, permeable parking areas and access roads.
Site Investigation Overview:
The works comprised an intrusive ground investigation at the site to establish the ground conditions, suitability of the natural geological strata as a founding medium and to assess the drainage potential of the underlying soils for both permeable surfacing and soak-aways. An assessment of contamination present was also made to ensure the safe redevelopment of the site.
What did we do / Find / Bring to the table
Soils Limited liaised with the school and client representatives, along with various other stakeholders involved to design a site investigation to meet the requirements of all parties.
The site works comprised:
– 5No. machine excavated trial holes
– 4No. windowless sampler boreholes
– 4No. dynamic probes
– Geotechnical laboratory testing
– Environmental/chemical laboratory testing
– Waste classification assessments
– Soil gas and groundwater monitoring
– Procurement of Statutory Service Plans
The site works were undertaken at specific times to accommodate opening hours of a school specialising in children with learning difficulties.
