Senior Geo-environmental Consultant

Soils Limited are seeking a Senior Geo-environmental consultant to join our team in Winchester and support our ongoing growth. 

Soils Limited was founded in 1982 by Nick Lambert and Rob Higginson and now works on projects across the country from our offices in Surrey, Hampshire and Cornwall. We are a Geotechnical and Environmental Consultancy, supported by an in-house team of technicians with our own drilling rigs to service our projects.

Our company has a strong technical base in geo-environmental consultancy, and we are seeking a candidate to help drive forward the technical output and development of this side of the business. We believe in giving staff the structure and support to develop within our well-established company, whilst granting the freedom and latitude to take their career to new heights. You will become an integral part of the company, mixing technical work with project management, mentoring and providing input to the company’s strategic development. 

Hours: 40 working hours per week, Monday – Friday. 

Location: This role will be located at our office in Winchester, SO23 0LB. 

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing technical reports and reviewing the work of others;

  • Managing projects including site works, stakeholders, and the development of project deliverables;

  • Lead project meetings and client interactions as the Project Manager;

  • Mentoring and supporting the engineering teams;

  • Fostering a culture of engineering excellence and adherence to industry and company standards among junior team members;

  • Coordinate and support the delivery of reporting and design packages;

  • Assist with tender submissions and produce detailed geo-environmental proposals.

Ideal Candidate:

  • MSc or above in Environmental Geology / Science or a related subject;

  • CEnv status preferred;

  • Technical experience to include:

    • Planning, execution and supervision of site investigation works;

    • Preparation of Phase 1 through Phase 5 Contaminated Land documentation;

    • HazWaste Classification and waste management;

    • Familiar with DoW:CoP and re-use of material in producing MMPs;

    • Proficiency in statistics for land contamination, controlled waters DRA, etc.

  • Awareness and experience of managing commercial risk on projects;

  • Eager and able to manage their workload and balance and prioritise a range of tasks and priorities;

  • Some experience or knowledge of geotechnical engineering ideal;

  • Ability to communicate technical ideas and solutions to a range of expertise and backgrounds;

  • Strong client-facing communication skills;

  • Experience and understanding of the importance of mentoring and training junior staff.

Location: Winchester, SO23 0LB. Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Annual Salary: From £35,000 to £50,000 dependent on experience.
