Site Technician
LOCATION: WINCHESTER / COBHAM
SALARY: From £27,000, dependent on experience.

About us:
Soils Limited is an independent Geotechnical and Environmental Consultancy, a key part of our work is site investigations which include drilling boreholes, excavating trial pits and in-situ testing to enable our team of Engineers to prepare reports on site conditions. Our Technicians enjoy a varied role, working on a wide range of sites on a mix of 1-day up to multi-week assignments. Our site-based staff start and end most days at home, with only occasional overnights as required by our workload.
We work for the full range of clients in property and construction. From small house builders and regional developers, up to tier one construction companies.
Hours:
Full time, Monday – Friday. Site hours are typically 8:30am to 4:30pm, however these are flexible based on workload and seasonal changes.
Location:
This is a site-based role. Candidates will ideally be located for regular travel to work sites and between our Main Office in Winchester and Operational base in Cobham, Surrey.
The Role:
If you are not looking for an office or warehouse-based role this is the ideal job for you, as much of the work is hands-on, working outdoors on job sites varying from fields and dense urban development sites to someone’s back garden.
Key tasks will include:
Soil Sampling Logging and Testing from machine excavated and hand-dug trial pits.
Gas and Groundwater monitoring.
Transporting materials and tools to support siteworks.
Supervising subcontractors and drilling crews.
As you develop your skills and capabilities, we are eager to develop our Site Technicians into the following areas:
Obtaining your NVQ in Land Drilling.
Operating one of our Premier 110 drilling rigs (subject to training and certification).
In-situ testing for soil strength; plate load testing, California Bearing Ratio, and more.
Training and certification in the use of Cable Avoidance Tools and other scanning/survey equipment.
Obtain certifications like NRSWA and SSSTS.
About You:
Willingness to learn new skills.
Familiarity with using Microsoft Office apps preferred (or a willingness to learn)
Adaptable and enjoy a challenge.
The right to work in the UK.
Full UK Driving licence.
Strong communication skills.
You must be able to meet the physical job requirements of the role which include; manual handling, standing for long periods and working outside in varying weather conditions.
